Glass balustrades: 5 things to check before you start
Glass type, fixing, height, maintenance… Everything you need for a beautiful and safe glass balustrade.

1. Laminated safety glass
For a balustrade, the glass must be laminated (two panes bonded by an interlayer) and usually tempered: on impact, the pieces stay bonded to the film and the balustrade keeps protecting.
2. The right fixing system
- Recessed floor channel: no posts, a completely clear view.
- Stainless clamps or spigots: ideal for gardens, pools and stairwells.
- Aluminium & glass posts: a more visible, very sturdy structure.
3. Height and use
Height and strength depend on the use (balcony, mezzanine, pool) and the fall height. We size every project accordingly.
4. Clear, extra-clear, smoked or frosted
Extra-clear glass removes the greenish tint visible on the edge. Smoked glass gives a contemporary look, frosted glass keeps an overlooked balcony private.
5. Maintenance
Glass cleaner and a microfibre cloth are enough. By the sea, choose quality stainless hardware and rinse regularly with fresh water.
